Part 1: Background and Perspective

I grew up in a culturally diverse environment, which shaped the person I am today. Over the years, I learned that culture and diversity are integral parts of human life. The lessons reinforced my commitment to using experiences, values, and practices necessary to enhance the quality of team-based functions. Specifically, my parents always emphasized the need for compassion, respect, and honesty when engaging others from different cultures. Thus, the background helps me apply a sociological perspective based on interdependence and equity. In other words, I can manage differences in cultural views and attitudes with multicultural teams.

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the opportunity of being on the frontline. However, it was a pressing ethical concern considering the conditions and risks and calls for nurses to fulfill their duty of care. In other words, I had to make an ethical and appropriate decision in a scenario that involved substantial risks, including the likelihood of transmitting the virus to members of my family. However, I acknowledged health care professionals' routine and willingness to handle patients in risky situations. As such, it was necessary to provide care in line with the duty of care to patients who need quality and safe care during a crisis.

Part 2: Scenario Response

I would consider adjusting the policy to accommodate the needs of students with young children. Increasing the number of missed classes from one to four per semester will allow three and more students to cope with the challenges of learning in difficult conditions such as the absence of childcare during class time.
